He was gone.
His brother who never greeted her spoke with the man who drove that handsome Chevelle, carried out him to her, and then placed him in the back seat. She was confused when they didn't speed to a hospital like other times when he was bloody and unmoving. And more so when the brother and the man carried him into the woods and returned without him.
Now he drove her mostly at sensible speeds down the freeway, soft music piped through her speakers from an iPod, and no more greasy wrappers littered her floor.
She was absolutely miserable.
