Dean stared at the cards intently. Unlike poker, this game took physical skill as well as being able to read your opponent. Cheating was impossible. The green eyes of the player were watching him every bit as intently. His opponent knew all his moves and tells. He should - Dean trained him personally.

He tossed down the last card and reacted with speed honed from his years hunting. His hand slammed down on top of the pile. Instead of the card with hearts and a smug face, he covered his six year old son’s hand. “Slap jack!” John Samuel yelled gleefully.
